Sam Stevens
Hyp Dip MSH
My work is rooted in both professional training and lived experience.
I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist and remain deeply committed to ongoing learning so I can support my clients safely, ethically, and effectively.
I live in Poole, and see clients across Bournemouth & Christchurch. I also offer online, so I can support you no matter where you are in the world.
I undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD), particularly in the areas of anxiety, emotional wellbeing, and addiction recovery. Ensuring my work stays informed, trauma-aware, and aligned with best practice.

My Personal Journey
Just over a decade ago, I had talk therapy for the first time. That experience sparked something in me. It was a quiet but persistent desire to help others. I didn’t act on it straight away, but over time the call grew louder, until I finally listened.
I began training as a counsellor, on what was meant to be a three year course. In the first year, alongside basic counselling skills, I completed a Diploma in Hypnotherapy. Learning about the subconscious mind lit me up. I’d never seen myself as a particularly ‘scientifically minded’ person, yet neuroscience and hypnosis spoke to me in a way nothing else had.
After that first year I knew I wanted to go deeper into hypnosis, neuroscience, and how the nervous system shapes our thoughts, behaviours, and coping strategies.
As my hypnotherapy practise developed, another calling became clear. I felt drawn to working with sensitive minds, people whose nervous systems had learned to adapt in ways that once made sense, but no longer served them. Often this shows up as anxiety or addiction. I understand the impact of both of these on a deeply personal level. Someone I love entered addiction recovery in 2017, and I lived through the chaos of her active addiction as well as the beauty and transformation of her recovery.
I also understand that recovery isn’t always smooth sailing, it brings its own set of challenges as the nervous system learns to adapt and find safety again.
That experience profoundly shaped how I work, with compassion, realism, and respect for the intelligence of both the nervous system and the subconscious mind.
Anxiety and addiction are often intrinsically linked. Both are rooted in a mind and body that learned to survive. Today my work is about helping people gently update those patterns, creating safety, choice and lasting change.
